Honeygold Acres
Honeygold Acres is a hobby farm located in east central Minnesota. We primarily raise sheep for their wool and meat. The farm is named for our favorite apple variety that grows on our property.
The spinning flock is made up of Targhee, Merino, , and some cross-bred sheep. This has enabled us to maintain a flock with a variety of fleece types. We select ewes for wool quality, multiple births, and mild flavor. Ewes must be good milkers and good mothers.
We strive to produce high quality fleeces for hand spinning. The sheep are covered during the winter hay season to keep out as much vegetable material as possible. Fleeces are carefully skirted. Our fleeces have won top awards at the local county fair as well as the Minnesota state fair.
