Sour Belts is an assigned pooling project that is fun, attention keeping and can be knit in several different weights and sizes. Instructions for a longer narrower version have been added to the pattern as well!
Sour Belts was named by my youngest daughter Gracie, because it reminded her of one of her favorite candies…awe!! Pick your favorite spaced dyed color, grab a happy snack & and have fun with Sour Belts!!
Pattern includes written instructions and full video tutorial! It look hard but it’s super east and fun!
Awesome things you’ll need:
Fingering, sport, DK, or worsted weight yarn that is spaced dyed to work with assigned pooling. Yarn should be mostly dyed in one color with a small section dyed in a contrasting color or colors.
2 skeins of fingering weight equals a small shawl (purple sample)
2 skeins of sport or DK weight equals a cowl sized shawl (grey sample)
3 skeins of worsted weight equals a medium sized shawl (blue sample)
for larger shawls I recommend at least 3 or 4 skeins of your preffered weight
Use the following needles:
Fingering & Sport: US 5
DK: US 6 or US 7
Worsted: US 8
Finished size is all up to you but here are the sizes of my three samples as an example:
Grey and pink sample used 2 skeins of worsted weight and measures 45”
across & is 20” at the widest point.
Purple sample used 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn and measures 49” across
and is 38” at the widest point.
Blue sample used 3 skeins of worsted weight yarn and measures 56” across
and is 37” at the widest point
