Crafting For A Cause

Join StevenBe in raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association!

 Words from StevenBe

On May 29, 2022 my mother passed away. She was my best friend and the light of my life.

Mama Christa suffered with dementia for many years and would have truly benefited from more support.

To honor her memory and to give others a better opportunity, I have initiated this fundraiser starting on April 26 and culminating on her birthday, August 6.

Mama Christa used her passion for knitting to fundraise for those in need throughout her entire life including national disaster relief, support for cancer patients and programs that support a better future. Her example has led me to participate in The Longest Day to raise funds and awareness for care, support and research efforts for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Your donation not only means so much to me and the memory of Mama Christa, but more importantly to families currently needing support with their Alzheimer’s or dementia journey. Now is also a critical time to support research efforts as treatments continue to unfold.

Please consider a donation to help!

Additionally we are knitting and donating shawls for Alice’s Embrace. Alice's Embrace is a nonprofit organization devoted to providing hand-knit and hand-crocheted shawls and lap blankets to those suffering from Alzheimer's disease or dementia. We call on all fiber enthusiasts to help us with this effort.

Thank you so much!

It was my pleasure to meet Diane, the founder of Alice's Embrace a few years ago at a knitting event. The Alice's Embrace project gathers handmade prayer shawls and lap blankets to share with those sufferring from dementia and Alzheimer's.

Diane gifted Mama Christa a lovely prayer shawl knit in mama's favorite stitch, the feather and fan stitch. Mom cherished the shawl and wrapped up in it every night. It just so happened that Diane's mother had also passed away on May 29th just a few years apart from Mama's passing. This brought Diane and myself even closer together.

I have now signed up to be a partner with Alice's Embrace to be a drop off point for handade items to be passed along to those suffering from this disease. Please join me in crafting for a cause by dropping off a handmade item or purchasing one of our kits to donate or gift to someone in your life you is suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s.
