A good pattern should have the following: abbreviations, knitting instructions and charts, gauge & size information, materials, photos and schematics.
We’ll talk through each one of them, as well as go over some common mistakes made when reading a pattern.
We’ll talk about the language of knitting patterns and how to read and interpret them.
We’ll also discuss some of the symbols most frequently used.
Most importantly, I’ll teach you how to read knitting stitch patterns.
During class we will look at several different patterns written by several designers to compare different types of instructions.
A portion of class may be used to knit a section of a pattern following complicated instructions.
You will receive access to the entire slide show after the class.
Class time 2-5pm on Saturday June 21st
Skill level: Adventurous beginner knitter to intermediate; must be able to cast on, knit & purl
Materials needed: optional, bring scrap yarn with appropriate sized needles
Homework: feel free to bring a pattern to class that you might have a question about
