Here at Steven Be Studio we are really adament about the beauty and success of gradation knitting. You too, can do this.
It makes your knitting entertaining, it gives you something to look forward to. I love projects that have demarkations of progress. While you are knitting on section A, you can't wait to get to section B so you might miss dinner or you might never go to bed. Its important to going because you can get these projects done quickly.
I am going to describe to you a couple of my techniques. It really started with this wonderful put up of yarn, where the color gradates from one to the other. That inspired me. Now I tend to go into my studio and pick out shades of different yarns, shades of the same yarn. For instance, this one, the Indie Speedway. It starts with very big needles on the perimiter and you cast on your number of stitches holding two of the same color together. And then you switch out one of the main color and go into the second color of the gradation. You are running two strands, which is one technique.
And then this one has a gradation that flips back to the beginning colors. So we have 3 colors, dark to light, and then back , flip it, from light to dark. Fun to wear, you can wear it as a cowl, its a color. And because of the loose knitting around the edge it really lays nicely around your shoulders. Rather than, sometimes you get a cowl that is all the same dimension and you are wondering what to do with it all. This one is knit so it lays perfectly and drapes nicely.
